Banner Year for BRIT Press! March 07 2016

Four books, 11 authors, and almost 2000 pages: 2015 was a good year for BRIT Press! After receiving a record-breaking number of pre-orders, Flora of Colorado was released in May, going on to sell hundreds of copies in its first six months. Flora of Oregon Vol. 1 was hot on its heels, arriving in September and quickly becoming the go-to reference for professionals, students, and amateurs alike. Both have been adopted as classroom texts at the university level.

Two smaller, regional works (Plant Guide: Northwest Baja California, Mexico and Flora of Howell Woods) were also released in 2015 to great excitement. The former is a full-color, bilingual field guide with amazing photographs of local plants, while the latter is the first in a new series from the Illustrated Floras of North Carolina Project.

For 2016, we hope to release two additional titles in the North Carolina series as well as a long-awaited book about milkweeds and their relatives (Apocynaceae: Subfamily Asclepiadoideae)! Stay tuned!

It's Here! Flora of Oregon is Finally Here! September 01 2015

A truck pulled up to BRIT yesterday with a most precious payload: 3500 hardbound copies of Volume 1 of Flora of Oregon. This new title is the culmination of many years of hard work by the Oregon Flora Project and authors Stephen C. Meyers, Thea Jaster, Katie E. Mitchell, and Linda K. Hardison. Volume 1 of the 3-volume set covers the pteridophytes, gymnosperms, and monocots and includes an exhaustive introductory section on notable Oregon botanists, Oregon ecology, and exploring Oregon's botanical diversity. Distribution maps are provided for each plant, and line drawings are included for at least one species within each genus. Order your copy today!

Flora of Colorado now available! July 23 2015

Since its release at the end of May 2015, Flora of Colorado has been selling like hotcakes. Could its success be related to the high tourism the Centennial State experiences in the summer months? Who knows! But if you're headed there for a vacation yourself, why not pick up a copy to make sure you get the most out of all that beautiful Colorado has to botanically offer!

Bilingual Field Guide Newest Release May 12 2015

Plants are primary producers, the base of the food chain for higher organisms. But they also provide endless
benefit to our emotional well-being. Along with geographic landforms, they establish the landscapes that are the
foundation of our world. It is on this stage where we define our sense of place and self. Baja California’s remoteness,
expanses of undisturbed habitat, and high levels of endemism make it one of the few places on earth that offers
such a profound sense of place. Knowledge of Baja California’s plants and their evolutionary relationships offers not
just delight, but a deeper understanding, connection and awe of our natural world. The purpose of this guide is to
enhance that knowledge and affinity for the reader.
