Artist Henri Matisse loved spending time in the garden. Some of his most celebrated and well-known works were created in his later years when he began producing what is now known as his cut-outs. In fact, many of Matisse’s masterpieces were originally cut and pinned directly onto his walls in order to bring this new art garden inside to enjoy! Join artist Juliet Whitsett as she shares her current art series, Threatened Texas, then guides you in some serious Matisse-inspired, cut-out art-play experiments in order to bring our own gardens closer to us and inside out of the heat. This cut-out class will be dedicated to one of Texas’ most resilient and striking plants, the cactus.
